A Perfect Place for a Fall Hike Outside of Moab
Aug 01, 2022

Our camp set up along the Colorado River
The Fisher Towers is easy to get to from Moab, just around 20 miles or so east on Highway 128 followed by 2 miles of dirt road. The hike is 4.5 miles round trip and is fairly easy, just a little sketchy with some cliffs and a tiny ladder to climb, but I felt safe the entire time. We left the parking lot packed with camera gear, water, sunscreen, and hats then started to head on the single dirt trail with incredible views of the towers in the distance.

Stopping for a break on the trail into the Fisher Towers
This area is known for its soft Sandstone Rock and is a very popular destination for rock climbers. The views of cliffs and rock formations are amazing. It’s also really inspiring to see people rock climbing some of the more famous areas of Moab including the Ancient Art, Echo, Cotton Tail, and Titan right before your eyes.

So many amazing views from the trail to the Fisher Towers
Back in the parking lot, we were waiting for the sun to set, and started talking with some of the people who had hiked around us. A girl there was waiting for her sister and her two friends who were climbing the Stolen Chimney, part of the Ancient Art, and asked if we had seen anyone climbing. We had seen quite a few rock climbers, so I showed her some pictures and there she was, her sister at the summit.

The wait after our hike was well rewarded with an amazing sunset. As the temperature cooled quickly we headed past our campsite into the town of Moab for an icy cold beer at the Brewery. Followed by some perfectly made s'mores at our campsite.
